Sweat. Rehydrate. Replenish. Repeat!

If you’ve been a spin class at Passage Studios, you’ve likely heard one of our spin instructors ask you to leave It all on the bike.

Although we mean this figuratively, you should know that spin instructors are a sick breed of human who find satisfaction in seeing puddles of your sweat on the floor—I know, we’re weird…

While it’s important to rehydrate after class, it is equally important to replenish. When you sweat, your body loses not just water, but electrolytes and minerals including sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and zinc. Therefore, it’s essential that we replenish before our next workout so we can repair our muscles, promote a healthy immune system, and have a good night’s sleep.

One of my favorite ways to replenish after class is a hot epsom salt bath (Epsom salt is loaded with magnesium) and an ice-cold smoothie packed with vitamins, minerals, protein, and healthy fats!

Whether it’s HIIT, Spin, or Yoga, try this smoothie recipes following your next workout:

1 ripe avocado (It’s a good fat)

1 cup fresh baby spinach.

1 teaspoon dried turmeric (great to reduce inflammation)

2 tablespoons natural almond butter (or more, go nuts if you love this stuff—pun intended)

1/2 cup frozen blueberries

1 scoop chocolate protein powder

1/2 cup ice

Happy blending! We look forward to seeing you soon.

Josh
